JOHOR BARU: Johor police have launched Ops Lancar to ensure smooth traffic flow in view of the long weekend with Wesak Day on Thursday (May 4).

State police chief Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat (pic) said they have taken the initiative to keep traffic moving especially at the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex here and Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB) in Iskandar Puteri.

“We are expecting an increase in traffic either coming in or going out of the country at these two checkpoints,” he said here on Wednesday (May 3).

Comm Kamarul Zaman added that personnel would be stationed at intersections and strategic areas.

“We will be focusing on our response time to accidents and obstacles that may affect traffic flow as well as uncertain weather conditions,” he said.

Comm Kamarul Zaman also said a total of 261 officers and personnel would be on duty at 47 hotspots and 27 black spots throughout the state.

As of 5pm Wednesday, he said, traffic on all main roads in Johor including highways was still under control.

“I would like to remind road users, especially drivers and including foreigners, to abide by Malaysian road rules and always practise good driving ethics while on the road,” he said.
