KUALA TERENGGANU: Former Bukit Aman Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department deputy director (Operations) Datuk Mazli Mazlan (pic) has been appointed the new Terengganu police chief with effect from Wednesday (May 3).
Mazli, the state's 31st police chief, takes over from Datuk Rohaimi Md Isa who has been appointed Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department deputy director (Investigation).
The handing over of duties was witnessed by Bukit Aman Logistics and Technology Department director Datuk Sahabudin Abd Manan at the Terengganu police contingent headquarters here.
When met by the media after the ceremony, Mazli said he will continue all the strategies planned by the previous leadership in ensuring that the crime index in the state remains low, thereby benefitting the people.
"I will also look into a more structured and aggressive approach, including doubling the enforcement force, in an effort to reduce the accident rate in this state," he said.
Mazli is among 61 senior police officers involved in transfers and promotions as announced by the Royal Malaysia Police last month. – Bernama
