IPOH: A police report has been lodged by the Taman Harmoni Buntong Rukun Tetangga (RT) committee against the past president and the treasurer for allegedly misappropriating funds.

Its current chairman Muhammad Faiz Abdullah said the term of the previous committee ended in December 2021, but a cheque for RM6,730 registered under the RT was cashed on July 6 last year.

He said a check with the bank found out that the cheque had the signatures of both the past president and the treasurer.

The term of the new committee ends on Dec 31, 2023.

"A police report was lodged on Monday (May 8) at the Sungai Senam station after the committee received a full transaction report from the bank.

"I sent them (the ex-chief and treasurer) a notice asking them to hand in the financial report for the year 2021, and also asked for an explanation on the amount cashed out, but have yet to get an answer," he said.

Muhammad Faiz said he hoped further investigation would be carried out by the police.
