CIQ Complex to give clearer directions to public toilets soon

JOHOR BARU: There will be clearer signs for public toilets near the Immigration clearance at the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex.

State works, transportation and infrastructure committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh said this would help travellers if they need to go to the toilet.

“We do not encourage travellers to leave their vehicles for a toilet break because BSI is a high-security area. But travellers should go to the loo before a journey,” he said yesterday.

Mohamad Fazli said they would discuss with the Immigration Department and Home Ministry about putting up the direction signs for public toilets at BSI soon.

When asked to comment on the viral video of a woman caught urinating behind a closed counter at BSI, he said it was an isolated incident.

“During my visits to BSI, I have seen travellers going to the public toilet, which is near the Immigration clearance.

“Maybe, this person is unfamiliar with the BSI and could no longer hold it.

“However, we take heed of the incident and will be making more improvements,” he added.

Mohamad Fazli also said inbound and outbound traffic flow was improving and it did not take long to clear Immigration.

On Monday, Malaysia Tour Guides Association president Jimmy Leong said clearer signs to public toilets should be placed near the Immigration clearance at BSI.

The Johor Immigration Department said it would investigate after the video went viral on social media.
