KUALA LUMPUR: A total of five suspects have been arrested following investigations into an improvised explosive device that exploded in front of a shop at Tiara Mutiara 1.
In a statement Thursday (May 11), Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Amihizam Abdul Shukor said that the suspects were aged between 32 and 60 years old.
The investigation paper was referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor on Thursday, and two of the suspects will be charged tomorrow at the Kuala Lumpur court.
"Meanwhile the remaining three will be made prosecution witnesses," he said.
He added that some of the arrested suspects that had been paid and police are still investigating who was the original hirer.
On May 2, an improvised explosive device that was made and modified out of three PVC pipes was set off in front of a shop at Tiara Mutiara 1.
Bomb fragments were found at the scene along with three sets of fingerprints. CCTV footage showed two men leaving the area at the time of the incident as well.
