Torso of man found after croc attack in Sabah


KOTA KINABALU: A man who was attacked by a crocodile in Beluran district, some 200km from here on Tuesday (May 9), has been found dead with his body parts missing.

The torso of the 28-year-old victim, Rudi Amiruddin, was discovered some 1km from where he was last seen on Thursday (May 11) morning.

It is learnt that both the victim’s arms and legs were no longer there when the body was discovered, and nowhere to be found.

Sabah Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Hamsa Isnurdini said they had continued their search for the victim at around 6.45am, and the body was found at around 10.30am.

He said the operation involved firemen, police, civil defence officials as well as villagers.

“The body was handed over to the police for further action after that,” he said adding they wrapped up their operations at around 11.30am

In the May 9 incident, Rudi was washing his hands and legs at the Rowog River after land clearing works at the nearby Linbar 2 Estate when the reptile attacked him at around 3.50pm.

He was with his friends at that time but they were unable to rescue him from the crocodile.
