Bersatu postpones supreme council, division polls for up to 18 months

KUALA LUMPUR: The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia supreme council has agreed that elections at division level and the supreme council will be postponed for a period of not more than 18 months in accordance with clause 14.15 of the party's constitution.

Its secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin in a statement on Saturday (May 13) said the agreement was reached after a supreme council meeting chaired by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Friday (May 12).

"Bersatu is fully prepared to face the elections in six states that will take place soon with all the strength of the party machinery being streamlined involving all the states in order to become a powerful force," he said.

Bersatu, he said, also invited the public to the Perikatan Nasional open house at Raja Muda Musa Hall, Selangor State Youth and Cultural Complex, Section 7, Shah Alam from 8pm to 11pm on May 21. – Bernama
