SEREMBAN: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has launched a special "FF" vehicle registration series to mark its 77th anniversary.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the public can bid for the special registration plate over JPJ's e-Bid portal from Sunday (May 14).
"Those interested in applying for the FF series can bid online for five days till 10pm on May 18.
"I am confident that this series will bring in good revenue for the government," he told reporters after launching the department's 77th anniversary celebration here.
Loke said JPJ had previously earned more than RM10mil for a particular series.
He said the income received from the bidding would be announced after it closes.
At the event, Loke also launched the ebook Kurikulum Pendidikan Pemandu (KPP) which will allow those sitting for the JPJ driving test to pay only RM3 by doing so digitally.
Previously, those sitting to get a driver's licence had to pay RM13 while those seeking a motorcycle licence had to pay RM10.
"Those who sit for what is popularly known as the 'undang-undang' (theory) test previously had to buy the hard copy version but we have now decided to make it available digitally.
"Now, people have the option to either buy the hard copy version of KPP or the digital version which is a lot cheaper," he said.
Loke also launched another service known as JPJeID which will allow the public to access the department's digital services via mySIKAP and the MyJPJ mobile application.
The JPJ, he said, would also continue with its digitalisation plan to make it easier for the public to access its services.
"In fact, there will also be a lot more enforcement carried out digitally soon.
"During the recent Hari Raya, we started using drones to nab traffic offenders via the high-technology Enforcement Action Camera or EAC and Smart Enforcement Device or SmED," he said, adding that many more JPJ systems need to be integrated before it becomes fully digitalised.
Later, Loke said a German company which had exhibited caravans at the three-day JPJ Day exhibition has expressed interest to open an assembly line in Negri Sembilan.
"They told me the plan is to open a plant here which will serve both the Malaysian and Asean market.
"We certainly welcome such investments and I will follow up on this," he said.
