Unity meet: Resolve MA63 issue, no committees needed, says Kitingan

KUALA LUMPUR: It is time to resolve the issue related to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) without the need to form committees, says Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan.

The Sabah Deputy Chief Minister and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) deputy chairman said the issue of MA63 continues to take centre stage both in Parliament and in the political arena.

"In 2022, the unity government was formed under the leadership of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim with the concept of unity, inclusivity as well as diversity as its strength that rejects corruption and extremism.

"These are the main principles under the concept of Malaysia Madani.

"When asked regarding the need to have a committee to address the issue of MA63, the PM10 (tenth premier) replied why do we need another committee.

"Just implement it. This is the kind of Prime Minister that we need," said Kitingan in his address at the national unity convention at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre (WTC).

Kitingan also spoke about the importance of nation building between Sabah and Sarawak with those in the peninsula.

"Has the real Malaysia arisen? Please do not say 'welcome to Malaysia' anymore when Sabahans and Sarawakians arrive in the peninsula.

"We are all one (Kita kita juga bah ini). Please make Malaysia a home for everyone," said Kitingan, adding that all parties should support one another in building the nation.
