JOHOR BARU: A total allocation of RM23.1mil has been approved by the Local Government Development Ministry to carry out more than 60 projects in all 16 local authorities in Johor, says Nga Kor Ming.

The Local Government Development Minister said that this includes RM1.3mil to maintain and upgrade the Laman Tasik Pandan Anjung Singgah and Gerai Jalan Biru in Johor Baru.

"We have channeled a total of RM800,000 to upgrade the Laman Tasik Pandan Anjung Singgah and another RM500,000 to upgrade 14 stalls at Gerai Jalan Biru.

"On top of that, we have also approved an allocation of RM8.5mil to maintain 28 flood retention ponds statewide in an effort to reduce the occurrence of flash floods.

"This includes 10 ponds in Muar, Kota Tinggi (six), Mersing (four), Batu Pahat (two), Kulai (two) and one each at Johor Baru, Iskandar Puteri, Segamat and Pengerang," he said.

He said this in a press conference after visiting Laman Tasik Panjang Anjung Singgah here on Monday (May 15).

"The ministry has also approved another RM13.3mil for all 16 local councils in Johor to carry out 35 projects involving public facilities.

"All of these projects will start as soon as possible and must be completed by this year.

"We want the people to feel the commitment of the Federal and state government in rebuilding the country," he said.
