KUALA LUMPUR: Foodpanda Malaysia has added Menu Rahmah dishes, priced at RM5 or less, to its list.
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub applauded the delivery platform's commitment to expanding the reach of the Menu Rahmah initiative to more people.
”Our efforts in making Menu Rahmah more accessible to all from every creed and income level would not be made possible without the voluntary participation of restaurant operators.
"It is heartening to see that even food delivery platforms such as foodpanda have joined the initiative to ensure that more Malaysians have access to affordable food," he said at Foodpanda's Payung Rahmah initiative launch at the company's headquarters here on Tuesday (May 16).
Over 238 restaurant outlets nationwide will be taking part in the platform's Menu Rahmah initiative.
Meanwhile, Foodpanda chief executive officer Sayantan Das said they were planning to gradually expand the initiative to more restaurants.
"We plan to add some 1,000 outlets by this year," he added.
Although the dishes of Menu Rahmah are capped at RM5 each, he said the delivery fees would remain at the usual rate.
"The consumers can join in our occasional delivery fee discount campaigns," he added.
Apart from this, the platform's grocery store - pandamart - will be offering two pocket-friendly grocery bundles under the Pakej Rahmah initiative with both savings of up to 25%.
Priced at RM30 or RM50 each, the bundles contained a variety of essential food items like noodles and biscuits, cooking ingredients and cleaning products, among others.
The company has also donated 300 Bakul Rahmah packages, worth a total of RM15,000, to the Rahmah Malaysia Foundation, to be distributed to the less fortunate community.
