Celebrity reveals mysterious illness that almost killed him

Mawi has revealed he was once afflicted with a mysterious ailment that saw him stepping out of the limelight.

The celebrity told Berita Harian the incident almost took his life.

“There was a period of two to three years some 10 years ago when I did not sing or act because of this.

“When I suddenly came to my senses, I saw my wife crying while wiping the blood that came out of my mouth. I nearly left the industry completely,” he said.

Mawi, 41, whose full name is Asmawi Ani, said since then, he preferred scriptwriting and directing.

“I’m just thankful to God for this episode as it really changed me,” he added.
