PETALING JAYA: The NU Sentral shopping centre is closed until further notice following an unscheduled power cut on Wednesday (May 17).

Its management office announced on its official Facebook page that the decision was made for the safety of shoppers.

It added the mall was on reserve power while waiting for power supply to be restored.

"For the safety of our shoppers, NU Sentral shopping centre will be closed until further notice.

"Kindly reach out to our customer service counter located at level G (near the monorail entrance) or our mall security for assistance.

"We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused," it said, adding that the office would provide updates on the incident.

On a related matter, Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) also announced on Twitter that its operations at NU Sentral and other malls would resume on Thursday (May 18).

"Please be informed that the mall (Mid Valley Megamall) will reopen tomorrow.

"Affected cinemas – GSC Mid Valley KL, Aurum Theatre The Gardens KL and GSC NU Sentral will be open tomorrow as usual," it said, adding that they would make announcements on its social media platforms.

Earlier on Wednesday, a fire broke out at the Mid Valley City Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) main substation.

TNB said the fire disrupted the electricity supply to consumers in Mid Valley City and parts of Desa Pantai.
