Thousands hit by four-hour power failure in Sabah on May 16 night

KOTA KINABALU: Thousands of consumers in Sabah's west coast and Labuan were hit by a four-hour power disruption on Tuesday (May 16) night.

Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) said the power outage was due to a technical fault on its main intake transmission line that tripped several power plants.

In a statement on Wednesday (May 17), SESB said power was fully restored by 10.06pm with electricity being restored to affected areas in stages from 8pm.

"Investigations into the cause are under way," the utility company said.

SESB apologised to consumers for the inconvenience caused by the disruption.

The public is urged to contact the SESB Careline 15454 for any questions about supply interruptions.
