IGP: Bukit Aman special task force set up to deal with royalty, religion and race issues

KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman has formed a special task force to deal with issues pertaining to royalty, religion and race (3R), says Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.

The Inspector-General of Police said the task force consisted of a team from Bukit Aman CID's Special Investigation Unit (USJT).

"We are serious in curbing 3R issues, especially on social media.

"We have formed the task force and it will take action against those who insult or touch on sensitive issues pertaining to the 3R," he told reporters after attending a high-tea event with media practitioners in Bukit Aman on Thursday (May 18).

Acryl Sani said a total of 23 cases were recorded by the task force between March 22 and May 17.

"Eleven cases involved insulting Rulers or royalty, four on religion and five on race.

"Five cases have been completed while 18 other cases are still being investigated," he said.

Cases involving 3R will disrupt the harmony of the people if they are not dealt with promptly, Acryl Sani said.

"We will take necessary action to ensure such cases are dealt with accordingly," he said.

Asked whether PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang will be called up by police in connection with a 3R case, Acryl Sani said anyone who is involved will be called up in the process of completing an investigation if such a need arises.

"That is our standard operating procedure," he said.
