Labuan Financial Services Authority acting on cybersecurity incident

KOTA KINABALU: The Labuan Financial Services Authority (FSA) experienced a cybersecurity breach which affected its online systems.

In a statement released on Thursday (May 18), the Labuan FSA said that they took immediate action to secure the systems against unauthorised access and have notified the relevant authorities.

The FSA added that it has engaged international cybersecurity experts Mandiant to work-round-the clock with their ICT team as well as application vendors to conduct a thorough investigation of the security incident.

"At present, Labuan FSA is working to ascertain the full impact of the incident on our systems.

"As a safety precaution, we have temporarily taken certain operational systems offline to prevent exposure to further risks, while maintaining operations to continue to support our customers with minimal disruptions," FSA said.

Labuan FSA said the resolution of the incident would take time and it apologised for the disruption to their services.

"As we have more to share, we will provide additional details," said the FSA.
