New Bill on hotels to be tabled in upcoming Perak State Assembly meeting

IPOH: A new Bill will be tabled during the third meeting for the fifth year of the 15th Perak State Assembly.

Perak State Speaker Datuk Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid said the Perak Hotel Enactment will be tabled by state housing and local government committee chairman Sandrea Ng Shy Ching.

"State rural development, plantations, agriculture and food industry committee chairman Datuk Mohd Zolkafly Harun will table an amendment to the Poultry Farming Enactment," he said at a press conference held at the state secretariat building here today (May 18).

"The sitting will be from May 22 until 25," he added.

Mohammad Zahir then said that the duration for the oral question-and-answer session will be extended to 90 minutes.

“To allow more questions to be asked and answered by Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad and the executive council members during the sitting, we have extended the session by another 30 minutes. Previously, it was only for 60 minutes," he said.

"The session will be conducted throughout the four-day meeting,” he added.

He also said the meeting would be held in a newly-renovated hall.

“The renovation included upgrades to the tables and chairs. This is a much needed renovation because the last time the furniture was replaced was 25 years ago," he said.

“The upgrading work started in February and costs about RM1mil and it was done by the state Public Works Department,” he added.
