RM5,000 fine over porn kept in phone


TAIPING: A shop assistant has been fined RM5,000 after pleading to possessing pornographic materials on his mobile phone.

Muhammad Fitri Ishak, 26, who works at a shop selling coconut milk, pleaded guilty to the charge before Magistrate Nur Atiqah Sapari yesterday.

Nur Atiqah fined the accused RM5,000 in default eight months’ jail.

He was charged with possessing 67 pornographic pictures and 55 lewd videos in his phone at Hospital Taiping here at 12.15pm on Feb 16 last year.

He was charged yesterday under Section 292 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum jail sentence of three years or a fine or both.

Muhammad Fitri was represented by National Legal Aid Foundation lawyer Ng Wei Jun, who said the accused earned RM1,200 monthly as a shop assistant.

The accused paid the fine.
