KUALA LUMPUR: It is up to Khairy Jamaluddin if he wants to join Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, says Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Ahmad Zahid said since Khairy is no longer a member of Umno, the latter is free to join other political parties.

“It is within his rights to go anywhere because he is no longer with Umno,” the Deputy Prime Minister said in a press conference after chairing the National Action Council on Cost of Living (Naccol) meeting at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Thursday (May 18).
When asked if Umno will “counter the offer” to the former Umno Youth chief, Ahmad Zahid said there are strategies in place without revealing the details.
“We have strategies in place but when I share them in public, it would no longer become a good strategy,” he said.

Yesterday, Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin offered a supreme council position to Khairy, saying that he possessed valuable experience.
In January, Khairy, who is also the former health minister, was sacked by Umno along with other leaders, who were either suspended or sacked, for going against the party by standing as independents during the 15th General Election.
