IPOH: A married couple has been arrested at their Jelapang home which has been transformed into a drug laboratory.
Police seized about RM210,123 worth of drugs during a raid on Tuesday at about 9pm.
Perak police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the suspects aged 30 and 38 were believed to have been running the drug processing and packing centre since February.
“Both individuals do not have stable occupations and they do not have a criminal record.
“They are being remanded for seven days until May 23 to facilitate investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act,” he told a press conference at the state police contingent headquarters here yesterday.
He said the man also tested positive for methamphetamine.
Comm Mohd Yusri said police found about 21,676g worth of what was believed to be heroin and another 3,640g in liquid form.
“Also seized were chemical substances, equipment used for processing and packing drugs, a car and a necklace worth a total of about RM246,123.
“The drugs are believed to be sold locally in Perak and could be used by about 47,000 people,” he said.
Comm Mohd Yusri said the success of the raid was due to the continued cooperation between the police and the community.
