FARID Kamil says starring in Anwar: The Untold Story is the most rewarding in his 22-year career, Sinar Harian reported.

The lead actor of the newly released biopic on Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said being able to portray the political leader’s life struggles between 1993 and 1998 was deeply moving.

“I have acted in 67 fictional films. But this is the only non-fictional one about a national figure in our country. It was a rewarding experience shooting the movie because Anwar himself was able to watch it as the Prime Minister,” he added.

The 42-year-old revealed that many people had advised him against taking the role when production began a few years before Anwar became Prime Minister, saying that it might jeopardise his career.

“I knew it was a controversial move, but I wanted to take the role anyway because I admire Anwar’s uncompromising stance against corruption,” he said.

Farid hopes the movie will lead to a new transformation in the local film industry.

“Hopefully, more films highlighting the real issues affecting the people in this country will be made,” he added.

> Angel, a member of the Malaysian girl group Dolla, has denied talk of her dating actor Nadhir Nasa, Harian Metro reported.

The 22-year-old singer, whose real name is Angelina Chai Ka Ying, said she and Nadhir do engage with each other often on social media as friends and nothing more.

“We have never gone out together after we met in the entertainment show Meletop where we did a ‘dance challenge’ together,” she added.
