Perak PAS chief's cryptic tweet causes stir online

IPOH: A cryptic tweet by Perak PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria caused a stir on social media on Sunday (May 21).

Razman had tweeted a one-liner, saying "PAS Perak siap sedia terajui Perak Sejahtera (Perak PAS is ready to lead Perak Sejahtera)".

However, a check on his Facebook page revealed that “PAS Menerajui Perak Sejahtera” was actually the theme for the Perak PAS convention that took place in Kampar on Sunday.

In his Facebook post, Razman said the theme was a continuation from the last convention with the tagline “Islam Leads, Perak in Peace”.

“For the latest theme, all Perak PAS leaders and members have been urged to increase the strength of the party, plan ahead to win in GE16 (the 16th General Election), enhance unity, and create a strong 'ummah', that will finally allow PAS to govern and shape Perak into a prosperous state.

“The focus of this convention is to formulate strategies, and resolutions on what PAS leaders, and members need to do to achieve according to the theme,” he said in his post.

In GE15, Perikatan Nasional won 26 seats, while the unity state government won 33 seats in the Perak assembly.

On Saturday (May 20), Razman told Utusan Malaysia that a few state assemblymen from the unity government had met him recently.

He had claimed that the assemblymen had come to meet him personally, but stopped short of saying if they discussed matters to topple the state government.

The Perak Legislative Assembly sitting starts on Monday (May 22) and will end on Friday (May 26).

On May 6, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said that there was no plot to bring down the current Perak government.

Dispelling such talk, the Perak Mentri Besar said there were 59 state seats, and those hoping to “take over” the state government must clearly prove to the Ruler that they had 30 seats in their hands.

He said that the Opposition would require four more seats if they indeed wanted to become the state government.

“The four seats, where are they going to come from with the anti-hopping law in place?” he asked.
