‘Students, teachers can continue wearing sports attire’

KOTA BARU: No time frame has been set yet on the permission for students, teachers and members of the implementing group in all institutions under the Education Ministry to wear appropriate sports attire during the current hot weather, says its minister.

Fadhlina Sidek said the special permission would depend on weather conditions and was issued to avoid any health complications.

“The ministry does not make decisions on its own; we are assisted by the Health and the Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Ministries, which constantly monitor the weather and temperature to ensure we can continue our activities with the students.

“This step is also to ensure that unwanted incidents are prevented,” she told reporters after attending the Madani Education Roadshow and Raya do here yesterday.

Also present were Education director-general Datuk Pkharuddin Ghazali, Kelantan education director Mohd Zamri Abdul Aziz and CelcomDigi chief enterprise business officer Afizulazha Abdullah.

At the event, Fadhlina also launched the EL30 and M40 Teacher packages, a strategic collaboration between Yayasan Didik Negara and CelcomDigi.

The Education Ministry granted permission on May 3 for students, teachers, and members of the implementing group in all educational institutions to wear suitable sports attire during the current hot weather.

This was done to prevent any health complications.
