Anti-hopping law to be tabled in Sabah soon

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah is likely to table its anti-hopping law during the state assembly sitting this week.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the tabling of the law was now possible after meeting all procedures, including getting approval from the head of state and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

“The State Constitution Amendment Bill is among four Bills to be tabled in the first meeting of the fourth term of the state assembly,” he said at the pre-council meeting yesterday.

Hajiji said the State Constitution Amendment Bill needed a two-thirds majority in the state assembly in order for it to be passed.

“I am confident the Bill will get full support from Gabungan Rakyat Sabah and Pakatan Harapan members.

The Bill is expected to be tabled on Thursday.
