EPF confirms fire at Jalan Gasing premises

PETALING JAYA: The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has confirmed that one of the floors on their building at Jalan Gasing, Petaling Jaya caught fire on Monday (May 22) morning.

In a statement, the EPF said that it will investigate the cause of the fire.

“The building is currently empty and unoccupied, as such no injuries have been reported at this time. Further details will be provided when available.

“The Fire and Rescue Department was on site and had the fire under control,” it said.

When contacted, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Hafisham Mohd Noor said that the fire involved the fourth and fifth floor of the building.

Seven fire stations deployed teams to the scene.

He added that as of 11.08am, the blaze has been brought under control.

Previously, the building had caught fire in February 2018.

Several videos of the building with flames and thick smoke have been circulating on social media on Monday (May 22) morning.
