Jalan Gasing EPF building to be repurposed into senior living facility

PETALING JAYA: The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) says the building on Jalan Gasing here is due to be repurposed into a senior living facility.

"The building, which has been left unoccupied since the first fire that broke out in February 2018, is set to be repurposed into a senior living facility by Pacific Retirement Living Sdn Bhd (Pacific).

"The EPF had entered into a 30-year lease agreement on April 6, 2022 with Pacific, which has started internal demolition works in accordance with its renovation plans," it said in a statement on Monday (May 22).

The EPF added that it would be working with Pacific and local authorities to determine the cause of the fire and assess damages.

Earlier, a fire broke out at the building. This is the second time a fire had occurred there with a similar incident in 2018.

The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department said that the fire broke out at the fourth and fifth floor of the building, and the blaze was extinguished at 11.08am.
