Schools damaged by storm get funding

PUTRAJAYA: The 36 schools in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor damaged by the storm last Friday will be getting emergency funds for repairs from the Education Ministry.

The allocations, added the ministry, would be channelled to the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Education Department and the Selangor Education Department.

There were 27 affected schools in Kuala Lumpur and nine in Selangor, the ministry said in a statement yesterday, Bernama reported.

It said the two departments and district education offices would conduct a further evaluation of the damage at the affected schools with the help of the Public Works Department (JKR).

“The allocation for the maintenance work will be made to the two departments immediately,” the ministry added.

It said repair and cleaning work would be carried out immediately to enable learning and teaching sessions to continue.
