Talk of toppling Perak govt will cause uncertainty about state's future, says MB

IPOH: Any talk by assemblymen about toppling the state government will cause uncertainty about Perak's future, says Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad (pic).

The Perak Mentri Besar advised politicians who wished to make statements to prioritise the people’s well-being.

“We are just a six-month-old state government focussing on bringing big investors to the state.

“Convincing these investors will take us a long time. None of them would want to invest in the state if there are signs of instability,” he said this at a press conference at the state secretariat building here on Monday (May 22).

On Saturday (May 20), Perak PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria claimed to have met with several concerned assemblymen regarding speculation to topple the state government.

In GE15, Perikatan Nasional won 26 seats while the unity state government won 33 seats in the Perak assembly.

Saarani said the state administration is not only stable but also excited to ensure the success of Perak Sejahtera 2030’s plan.

“I want to know what Razman meant by these assemblymen meeting him personally. Did he just stumble upon them at a coffee shop or a night market,” said Saarani.

“Yesterday, Ulu Kinta assemblyman Muhammad Arafat Vafrisai Muhamad challenged him to name those who met him. So I am asking him now, who are these assemblymen who met him,” he added.

Saarani then said that none of the assemblymen from the state government wants to move to the other side.

“Furthermore, we have tabled the state’s anti-hopping law,” he said, adding that a police report may be lodged against Razman.

“If he continues to make such statements or affects the state’s safety, we will consider lodging a report against him, especially if it is proven that he is lying,” added Saarani.
