FANS of South Indian movie star Vijay Sethupathi were excited to catch a glimpse of the actor in Ipoh, Malaysia Nanban reported.

The actor, lovingly called the Makkal Selvan or People’s Treasure by Tamil cinema fans, is here for 30 days to shoot his as-yet-untitled new film.

He was seen arriving in Kuala Lumpur and later attended the film’s pooja at the Ipoh Kallumalai Arulmigu Subramaniyar Temple.

His presence attracted a large crowd.

> The daily also reported that the authorities in Avadi, Tamil Nadu, have introduced a police-on-bicycle programme to improve safety in residential neighbourhoods.

The bicycle patrols come following increased cases of snatch theft, harassment and drug pushing in residential areas.

More check posts or roadblocks have also been set up in entry and exit points to large residential areas, Avadi police commissioner Sandeep Rai Rathore said.

Many of these petty crimes targeted women returning home late from work and the elderly.
