JB cops detain businessman for threatening pensioner

JOHOR BARU: A businessman has been detained for allegedly making criminal threats against a pensioner.

Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Balveer Singh said the 66-year-old victim received voice messages from the 57-year-old local male suspect on Sunday (May 21).

"The suspect sent the threats on a WhatsApp group at around 11am," he said in a statement.

ACP Balveer said the suspect's threats caused the pensioner to fear for his own safety.

He said the suspect was arrested on Tuesday (May 23) at his house in Taman Bukit Mewah near here at 12.40am following a report lodged by the victim at 11.30am on Monday (May 22).

The suspect has been remanded for two days until Wednesday (May 24).
