Woman killed in crash near Kluang


KLUANG: A woman died on the spot after she was thrown out of a car following an accident along Jalan Padang Tembak near here.

The Johor Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said an emergency call regarding the incident came in at 11.44am on Tuesday (May 23).

“Nine firemen were deployed to the scene with one Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) vehicle and an Emergency Medical Response Services (EMRS) vehicle," Kluang Fire and Rescue station chief Mohd Fauzi Mohd Nor said in a statement.

He said the victim, a passenger in one of the two cars involved, was travelling with a man when the accident occurred.

The driver of the car and the other motorist, a woman, were trapped in their vehicles after the crash.

“We had to extricate both drivers using special equipment and they were sent to Hospital Kluang for treatment," Mohd Fauzi said.

He added that the victim was pronounced dead by a medical team from the Health Ministry and the body was handed over to the police for further action.

The operation led by senior officer II Affendi Mustafa ended at 13.01pm, he said.
