MACC officer, 'Datuk Roy' to be charged at KL Sessions Court on May 25

PUTRAJAYA: A Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission officer and an individual known as "Datuk Roy" are expected to be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions court on Wednesday (May 25).

Sources confirmed that the two will be charged in connection with the Jana Wibawa programme.

However, it is not immediately known the nature of the charges the two will face.

"Datuk Roy" had previously been charged and sentenced to prison for corruption.

Previously on March 9, MACC arrested four individuals, including an MACC officer and a woman, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of RM400,000 to avoid investigation into the case.

The Jana Wibawa programme was approved for implementation by the Cabinet in November 2020.

It was aimed at assisting bumiputra contractors to weather the economic hardship during the Covid-19 pandemic.
