Perak assemblymen get dress code reminder from state Speaker

IPOH: Perak state assemblymen have been reminded to wear formal attire before the question and answer session during the sitting on Wednesday (May 24).

State Speaker Datuk Mohamad Zahir Abdul Khalid issued the reminder after Opposition leader Razman Zakaria (PAS - Gunung Semanggol) was spotted not wearing a tie.

"All assemblymen should remember the rules and regulations that need to be met before entering the hall.

“I would like to refer to Standing Order 14 on the dress code and specifically Rule 14 (2) whereby state assemblymen may wear formal attire or suit or any attire that has been decided by the Speaker," he said.

“Last year, I still remember deciding that those wearing suits should also wear a tie, therefore, I would like to remind all assemblymen and officers to respect the decision,” he added.

He said that while the rules might be different at other "houses", assemblymen should follow the rules as set.

“Perhaps at the Dewan Rakyat, the rules are different. Without naming who, I hope everyone can follow the rules,” he said.
