ACTRESS Tiz Zaqyah (pic) once wanted to “fix” her nose because it was a bit crooked and her nostrils were too broad, Berita Harian quoted her as saying.
She even thought of removing the mole above her lips. However, Tiz, whose full name is Siti Zaqyah Abdul Razak, decided to accept her features.
“As for the nose, it is not guilty of anything. I once thought of ‘fixing’ it but ... this nose is what makes my face look better. So, I decided not to undergo surgery.
“I have always wondered why my nose doesn’t look as beautiful as my parents. My nose is crooked and wide.
“But it doesn’t matter. I almost wanted to remove the mole above my lips. But I realised that if it’s not there, my face will look ‘empty’ too,” she wrote on Twitter.
She said that each fingerprint is distinct, just like our facial features. Therefore, she has no intention of altering her nose.
> Extreme poverty has forced a college student to abandon her studies, Harian Metro reported.
Ainun Mardiah Mat Lazim, 19, from Ajil in Kuala Berang, Terengganu, decided to leave her hostel at Kolej Lembaga Kemajuan Terengganu Tengah (Ketengah) because she couldn’t afford the daily food expenses.
She is still interested in fulfilling her wish to pursue her diploma in childhood education and become a kindergarten teacher.
“When I was in college, I only ate once a day and drank only water. In the end, my father decided to bring me home as I only had RM20 left with me. I had no choice,” she added.
The single child lives with her parents, Mat Lazim Jusoh, 50, and Roslindawati Abd Rahman, 45, at an old wooden house that they rent.
Ainun Mardiah has an outstanding study fee of RM6,000. Her parents are currently seeking ways to repay it.
> The Islamic Development Malaysia Department (Jakim) is working with the Malaysian Embassy in Indonesia to obtain information following allegations that Malaysians were involved in a controversial religious ceremony involving a boarding school in Indramayu, West Java, Sinar Harian reported.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, said the Malaysian authorities were aware of the events that took place at the Islamic boarding school.
Earlier, Indonesian actor Lucky Hakim revealed that there were many Malaysians present at the event.
The study centre has been a talking point for Indonesians after it was claimed that the religious activities at the centre contravened Islamic teachings.
Among them were performing prayers without segregation between men and women and allowing a woman to deliver the sermon, which is strictly done by a male imam.
