GUA MUSANG: The South Kelantan Development Authority (Kesedar) will continue to provide infrastructure facilities and social amenities to the second generation of settlers in an effort to drive inclusive and prosperous rural development in line with the National Development Policy.
Kesedar general manager Dr Shahrir Mohammad Zakey said the agency is always committed to improving the socioeconomic status of the second generation of settlers to eradicate hardcore poverty and narrow the development gap between areas.
He said Kesedar is also working on completing the distribution of farm lots (individual grants) to the Land Development Plan (RKT) settlers in the Gua Musang district.
"This includes completing the remaining land payment of RM52.32 million to the Kelantan Land Commissioner for seven lots covering an area of 903 hectares with 158 settlers involved,” he told Bernama on Sunday (May 28).
For the Regional Development Project (PPK) in RKT Paloh 2, Shahrir said RM25 million had been allocated for the construction of 93 housing units under the Hardcore Poor Housing Project (PPRT) complete with basic facilities, which will take two years to complete after getting approval from the local authorities.
"In addition, the Rural Development Project in RKT Sungai Asap has just been approved this year with the target of developing 100 units of affordable housing for the second generation of settlers with an allocation of RM20.7 million. It is expected to be completed in 2026,” he said.
He also said that since the establishment of Kesedar in 1978, RM137 million had been spent on the construction of 1,724 new houses and the renovation of 8,696 homes in the Gua Musang, Kuala Krai, Jeli and Tanah Merah districts. - Bernama
