Man arrested over fatal stabbing of ex-fiancee in KK shopping mall

KOTA KINABALU: A woman died after she was allegedly stabbed by her former fiance at a shopping mall here on Monday (May 29).

In the incident at about noon, the 22-year-old victim was found lying in a pool of blood by the public, with several stab wounds to her body.

A police team was immediately rushed to the mall after a distress call.

“The woman was still breathing when the police arrived,” said Kota Kinabalu deputy OCPD Supt Kalsom Idris, when met at the scene.

She said, however, the victim soon succumbed to her injuries despite best efforts by medical officers who tried to resuscitate the woman.

She added that the police managed to apprehend a 33-year man, believed to be the victim's ex-fiance, who was still at the mall.

“We found several stab marks on the woman.

“We also recovered a knife which we believed the suspect had used in the incident,” said Supt Kalsom, adding that they were still establishing the motive for the murder.

She said the woman’s body has been sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital here for a post-mortem.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, she added.
