KLANG: The dog that was tied to the back of a car and dragged along the road in Port Dickson has since died.
This was disclosed by Port Dickson police chief Supt Aidi Sham Mohamed in a statement on Tuesday (May 30).
Supt Aidi Sham said a 61-year-old man was arrested at 10pm on Monday (May 29) in connection with the incident and taken to the Seremban Magistrate's Court for a remand order.
He said police received a report about the incident on Saturday (May 27) from a 44-year-old complainant who witnessed the dog being dragged.
Poultry farmer Rajes Donarow said he gave chase after seeing the dog on a road beside his home at Kampung Sri Parit in Lukut, Port Dickson.

Rajes said he signalled the car driver to stop but the man ignored him and continued to drive on.
He then overtook and blocked the vehicle to keep the dog, which was bleeding heavily, from being dragged any further.
When contacted on Monday, Rajes said the dog owner, who owned a landscaping business and a durian plantation, said he was transporting the dog over a 2km distance and tied it to the car because it refused to get into his lorry earlier.
Animal activists commended Rajes for his actions.
“We hope this will encourage others to do the same," said MDDB Canine Welfare Project director Irene Low.
She said if more people were like him, animal abuse could be reduced significantly.
“Currently, when a case of animal abuse surfaces, there is so much drama that the core message is lost," she said, urging the Veterinary Services Department and police to take action against the dog owner.
Activist Joanne Low concurred, saying not many people would have gone to the lengths Rajes did to help the unfortunate dog.
“Even many who profess being animal lovers just make a lot of noise but stay in the background without coming forward," she said.
She added that Rajes had done the right thing in trying to stop the dog from suffering further.
