State polls: Only a few things left to sort out, says Chow on Penang seat talks

GEORGE TOWN: Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional have just a few more matters to discuss for seat distribution in Penang, says Chow Kon Yeow.

The Penang DAP chairman said discussions between the two coalitions were 90% complete.

"There are a few overlapping issues still being discussed," he said after accompanying Transport Minister Anthony Loke to Sia Boey (old Prangin market) here.

Chow said discussions had proceeded smoothly and were approaching mutual agreement to face the state elections soon.

When asked, the Chief Minister said the seats involved were several seats in the island and mainland of Penang, without elaborating.

He said the state Pakatan and Barisan leaderships will meet to finalise the seats soon.

Meanwhile, Loke, who is DAP secretary-general, said various formulas were used to determine the seat distribution between component parties in the unity government coalitions.

In the 2018 state elections, DAP captured the most seats (19), followed by PKR (14) and two each for Amanah, Bersatu and Umno. One seat was won by PAS.

There are 40 seats to be contested in the upcoming election.
