PORT DICKSON: A man suspected of causing the death of a dog in Kampung Sri Parit, Lukut, on Saturday has been arrested by the police.
Port Dickson district police chief Supt Aidi Sham Mohamed said police received a complaint from a 44-year-old man who saw the animal being treated cruelly, resulting in injuries and bleeding.
“The complainant saw the dog being tied up and dragged by a car, which led to its death,” he said in a statement yesterday, Bernama reported.
He said the 61-year-old dog owner was arrested at 10.05pm on Monday and remanded for a day.
The case is being investigated under Section 428 of the Penal Code.
On Wednesday, The Star quoted poultry farm owner Rajes Donarow, who claimed that he saw a dog being chained to the back of a moving car.
Its paws were bleeding, he said, adding that the gravel was also scraping its chest while the man continued driving.
Rajes said he gave chase on his motorbike and signalled the driver to stop but he claimed that the man ignored him.
He then immediately alerted the authorities, but by then other passers-by had surrounded the man and the badly injured dog.
