Youth charged with killing pregnant lover


SUNGAI BESAR: A 20-year-old man has been charged at the Magistrate’s Court here with the murder of his pregnant lover.

Muhammad Fakrul Aiman Sajali nodded when the charge was read out in front of Magistrate Siti Hajar Ali here yesterday.

However, no plea was recorded as murder cases are under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

According to the charge sheet, Muhammad Fakrul is accused of causing the death of 21-year-old Nur Anisah Abdul Wahab, at Jalan Sungai Limau, Sungai Besar, between 8.30pm on May 22 and 8am on May 23.

The charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code carries a death penalty, upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Ku Hayati Ku Haron asked for time to wait for the relevant reports while Muhammad Fakrul’s lawyers, Khairul Anuar Kashim and Muhammad Nor Tamrin, asked for the case to be immediately transferred to the High Court.

Magistrate Siti Hajar then fixed Aug 3 for mention.

Sabak Bernam district police chief Supt Agus Salim Mohd Alias had earlier said that his team received a report from the public regarding the discovery of a body of a woman found burnt in a oil palm plantation area at around 8am on May 23.

It was believed that the victim was beaten and stabbed with a kitchen knife before her stomach was slashed.

It was reported that the victim was four months’ pregnant.
