Mayors, council presidents stand chance of studying at top foreign unis for stellar performance

BERUAS: Mayors and local authority presidents who perform extraordinarily will have a chance to continue their education at universities such as Oxford, Stanford or Harvard, says Nga Kor Ming.

The Local Government Development Minister said the award would be given to the winner of the gold excellent award under his ministry.

“The ministry wants to promote an excellent work culture and that is why we have the gold excellence award.

“The award will be given to a civil servant under our ministry who has shown a stellar performance this year,” he told reporters at Kampung Baru Ayer Tawar here Saturday (June 3).

Nga said the award would be presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim this year.

“The award ceremony will be held in November,” he said.

It was reported in January that the ministry has introduced 12 excellence award categories as a way to raise the spirit of more comprehensive work for the people.

The award offers attractive prices including cash, trophies and certificates.
