Five dead and five injured after accident near Sibu


SIBU: A collision between two cars at Mile 40 of Jalan Sibu-Bintulu on Monday (June 5) left five people dead and another five injured.

Those killed were Alicesha Bathrish Langi, 24, Allesandro Collin Stewart, two, Marcos Marican, 26, Marican@Langkan Legi, 61, and another unidentified adult male.

A representative from the Selangau Fire and Rescue Department said they were informed of the accident at about 10.10m by a member of the public.

"The accident involved a collision between two passenger cars. The five were declared dead by paramedics from Selangau Clinic while four others sustained light injuries and another was seriously injured" they said.

The injured were referred to Selangau Clinic for medical observation, he added.
