Zafir appointed as new Negri state secretary

SEREMBAN: Datuk Mohd Zafir Ibrahim has been appointed the new Negri Sembilan state secretary replacing Datuk Seri Dr Razali Ab Malik who retired on Jan 6.

The 53-year-old Tampin-born signed his oath of secrecy on Wednesday morning (June 7) before Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun at Wisma Negri.

His appointment took effect on Tuesday (June 6).

Aminuddin expressed confidence that the experienced Mohd Zafir, who had among others served at the Finance Ministry previously, will be able to help steer the state economy to greater heights.

“I am confident that he will also be able to help the state government continue with its agenda for the peoples’ wellbeing and ensure the smooth operation of the state administration," he said.

Mohd Zafir thanked Aminuddin for the appointment and the trust placed in him.

He pledged to do his best to lead the state public service machinery and ensure the state government's vision, mission and aspirations are realised.

Mohd Zafir graduated with an honours degree in Islamic Studies (Dakwah and Leadership) and a Master's in Information Technology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

He had also enrolled on the Oxford Advance Management and Leadership programme at Oxford University previously.

He joined the civil service as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer on March 21, 1994 and has since served in many positions which include human resources management and organisational development, financial management, international relations and external affairs.

His last post was Strategic Management Division for Statutory Bodies secretary in the Finance Ministry.
