New Esscom chief in just three weeks

KOTA KINABALU: Another individual is assuming the position of commander for the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom), just three weeks after the previous commander was appointed.

Kelantan deputy police chief DCP Victor Sanjos is now the Esscom commander, while DCP Mohd Ali Tamby, appointed the commander on May 18, will replace DSP Victor in Kelantan.

DCP Victor who has over 28 years of experience in the police force will take charge from July 3.

According to a statement issued by Esscom, DCP Victor, who has an honours degree in economics, was previously the Esscom Special Investigations and Technology Unit deputy chief of staff between 2015 and 2019.

With his skills in investigations and technology, he was among the pioneers in setting up the Commercial Crime Department’s Cyber Crime Division and Forensics Unit in Bukit Aman in 1997.

He held numerous posts in other units before he was promoted as the Deputy Commissioner of Police and appointed the Kelantan Deputy Chief on May 15 this year.

Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor witnessed the handing over of duties between DCP Victor and DCP Mohd Ali at his office in Menara Kinabalu yesterday (June 7).

Also present were State Secretary Datuk Seri Panglima Sr Safar Untong, Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan, State Home Affairs and Research Secretary Datuk Awang Shahminan Awang Sahari, Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director Datuk Hazani Ghazali and Esscom senior officers.
