Abused toddler under care of Women, Family and Community Development Ministry


PETALING JAYA: Care and protection have been provided to a toddler, who was abused by her mother's lover, says the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry.

The ministry said the girl, who suffered multiple injuries to her face and back, is currently receiving treatment at Hospital Kuala Lumpur.

“The child is in a safe environment with her mother.

“The government will not compromise with any offences involving the rights and welfare of children in accordance with the Children's Act 2001,” the ministry said in a statement on Friday (June 9).

On Thursday (June 8), Wangsa Maju police were alerted of the abuse incident in Setapak here.

The girl, two, was reported to have suffered a bruised lip, swollen left and right eye sockets as well as swelling on her back.

A 31-year-old suspect has been remanded to assist the investigation of the crime.

The ministry had urged the public, who came across any abuse incidents, to call Talian Kasih at 15999 or WhatsApp the information to 019-2615999 or contact the nearest welfare department offices.
