FOUR medical specialists in the Klang Valley were nabbed by a team from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for their alleged involvement in a baby-for-sale syndicate.
In the joint operation at 10am on Wednesday, four clinics were raided by a team of officers from the MACC offices in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Negri Sembilan, Sinar Harian reported.
The specialists were suspected to be involved in forging documents to enable hundreds of babies of illegal parents or unknown status to be registered with the National Registration Department (NRD).
The operation also saw the detention of two NRD officers and seven people, who played various roles in the syndicate, following an expose that syndicates were selling babies complete with birth certificates and MyKid cards.
> Comedian and radio host, Shuib Sepahtu has received RM1mil in sponsorship for his marriage with Watie Hanifiah, Sinar Harian also reported.
However, the 39-year-old said no reception would be held on the wedding day on June 23.
“The ceremony will include a Khatam al-Quran event (completion of the Quran recitation) and akad nikah (marriage solemnisation). Our families have agreed not to have any reception,” he said.
“We want our marriage celebration to be small,” he said, adding that only 600 guests were invited to the event in Shah Alam, Selangor.
Shuib was grateful for the sponsorship, which would help cover some of the cost of the marriage.
The ceremony will be aired in three episodes on Astro Ria.
