Footballer nabbed for allegedly hurting lover


PETALING JAYA: A footballer who plays in the Malaysia Super League club Sabah has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his lover at a hotel here.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said they received a report from a woman at around 6am on Wednesday.

“The woman alleged that she had a misunderstanding with her boyfriend who is a Super League football player at a hotel here.

“During the argument, the man hurt her and damaged her mobile phone,” he said yesterday.

ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin said based on intelligence and information, the suspect was arrested at the same hotel.

“The suspect was later released on police bail. We have classified the case for voluntarily causing hurt.”

The woman had posted a clip on Instagram showing bruises on her arms and finger as well as a caption saying that she was now dealing with trauma and phobia.

Meanwhile, in KUALA LUMPUR, two robbers were killed after police opened fire in self-defence.

City police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, when met at the scene in Lorong Jintan 2, said police were patrolling at 3.30am yesterday when they received information about some suspicious activities in the area.

“The team on duty went to investigate and found tools used to break into houses such as a machete.

“In self-defence, they were forced to open fire at the robbers,” he said.

Both suspects who were shot dead were foreigners.

Comm Mohd Shuhaily said police believe there were a total of four robbers.

“The two who escaped may have firearms.

“We are still investigating to see if other cases are linked to the gang,” he said.
