Khairy: I will meet Muhyiddin next week to discuss joining Bersatu

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin is set to meet Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin next week to discuss the possibility of him joining the party.

Khairy said this in the latest episode of his "Keluar Sekejap" podcast with Shahril Hamdan, adding that the meeting will be about his decision on the offer made by Muhyiddin recently.

He however did not elaborate on the meeting or the date of the meeting.

During the podcast, Khairy also said that his meeting with Sembrong MP Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein was non-political and added that there was no conspiracy behind it.

"I have known Hishammuddin for a long time. I joined politics through him as he was the one who brought me into Umno," said Khairy.

He added that he told Hishammuddin about the meeting with Muhyiddin to give his decision on whether he will be joining Bersatu.

Last month, the Perikatan Nasional chairman offered Khairy a Bersatu supreme council post if he chose to join the party.

Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu has also advised Khairy not to delay his decision about the offer.

This comes after Khairy - a former Umno Youth chief - was sacked by the party.
