Johor Baru MCA will always be my home, says Dr Wee in last speech as division chairman

JOHOR BARU: The Johor Baru MCA division will always be my home, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, who stepped down as the division chairman on Sunday (June 11).

In his last speech as the division chairman, the MCA president said that his political career has not always been smooth sailing as he has been through many ups and downs to be where he is now.

“Ever since I joined the division, the comrades from the Johor Baru division have always been supportive of me. No matter how far or how high I climb, the Johor Baru MCA division will always remain my home," said Dr Wee.

He said that the division has been a witness to many significant moments of his life, including his wedding and becoming a certified engineer.

“Many of the comrades from this division have shared these important milestones with me and seen me climb up the ladder to lead the party,” he said in a Facebook post on Sunday.

Dr Wee expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone for cooperating with him and sharing the journey with him.

“Once again, a huge thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support and encouragement all these years,” he added.

Meanwhile, the new Johor Baru MCA division chairman is its former Youth chief Bong Seng Heng, who beat deputy chairman Ang Boon Heng, during the division polls held at Dewan Jubli Intan Sultan Ibrahim here.

Bong garnered 152 votes while Ang received 45 votes.
