PETALING JAYA: Any PAS member, including Muafakat Nasional chairman Tan Sri Annuar Musa, is eligible to be a candidate in the upcoming state elections.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said, however, the party has yet to decide on the list of candidates who will contest.

"Any PAS member has the right to be a candidate if they are capable of winning.

"Everyone is among the candidates but we have not decided yet.

"We have shortlisted the names for all areas and will combine old and new candidates, and will decide on candidates who can bring victory to the party.

"We expect the list of candidates to be decided next week," he told reporters during a press conference after a ceramah in Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium on Sunday (June 11).

Also present were the Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob and his deputy Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah.

Takiyuddin also said the party's election machinery would have to work hard to ensure higher chances of victory.

"We are quite optimistic but cautious, especially in three states that are not under our administration such as Selangor, Negri Sembilan and Penang.

"We have good hopes, but the machinery would need to work hard to ensure victory is ours," he said.
